Pregnancy & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training
80HR BODYMIND BIRTHING PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL YOGA & BABY BONDING TEACHER TRAINING
January - March 2027 | Online + In Person in Tunbridge Wells
Don't just learn how to modify yoga for pregnancy. Learn how to support women through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.
Pregnancy and postnatal yoga are specialist areas of teaching.
A pregnant woman doesn't simply need a gentler yoga class. Her body is changing, her nervous system is adapting, she is preparing physiologically and emotionally for birth, and she may be navigating an enormous amount of information and uncertainty.
After birth, everything changes again.
This 80-hour specialist teacher training will give you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to support women throughout this extraordinary transition - from pregnancy and preparation for birth through to postnatal recovery and life with a new baby.
ONE TRAINING. TWO CERTIFICATIONS.
Pregnancy → Birth → Postnatal
On successful completion of the training you will be qualified to teach:
BodyMind Birthing Pregnancy Yoga
Pregnancy yoga incorporating birth preparation, breathing, hypnobirth principles and antenatal education.
Postnatal Yoga & Baby Bonding
Specialist postnatal yoga supporting recovery, rehabilitation, emotional wellbeing and bonding with baby.
This means you can potentially support the same woman throughout her pregnancy, as she prepares for birth, and when she returns to yoga with her baby afterwards.
Just £750 for both certifications.
Payment plan available. Secure your space with a (non-refundable) £150 deposit.

I deliberately keep each cohort small.
With a maximum of just 10 students, there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions, practise teaching, discuss individual scenarios and receive personal feedback and support throughout the training.
THIS IS MORE THAN LEARNING WHICH POSES TO MODIFY
Pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher training needs to go much further than learning a list of contraindications and adaptations.
To teach pregnant and postnatal women well, you need to understand the bodies in front of you - but you also need to understand birth, recovery, the nervous system, pain, breathing, confidence, autonomy and the enormous physical and emotional transition into motherhood.
We'll explore all of this.
You'll learn how to create safe, intelligent and enjoyable yoga classes, but you'll also develop the confidence to hold the space around them and help them create a community of support.
You'll learn how to support a student who is frightened about birth.
How to respond when someone arrives with pelvic girdle pain.
How to help women explore breathing, movement and positions for labour.
How to support someone preparing for a Caesarean birth.
How to create a postnatal class where women can recover and rebuild without feeling pressured to "bounce back".
How to hear a difficult birth story without feeling that you have to fix it.
And how to build classes that create the kind of community women often desperately need during pregnancy and early motherhood.

MODULE 4 - ACTIVE BIRTH & ANTENATAL EDUCATION

Movements and positions for labour and birth

Common interventions
Supporting a student preparing for a Caesarean birth

And then there is another member of your yoga class to consider...
The baby.
We'll look at how to create classes that support the mother while incorporating her baby in a way that feels enjoyable rather than chaotic.
You'll learn:
Working safely and confidently with babies
Songs and baby massage
Ways of including and distracting babies during class
Postnatal sequencing
Complete class planning
Modifications
Appropriate onward referrals and complementary support
Setting up and developing your pregnancy and postnatal yoga business
WHY TRAIN WITH ME?
I've been teaching yoga since 2000.
When I became pregnant with my first daughter in 2001, my own relationship with yoga changed and I discovered the area of teaching that would become my life's work.
I began teaching pregnancy and postnatal yoga in 2002, established my pregnancy and mum & baby yoga business in Kent in 2006, and have been training teachers since 2010.
So what I bring to this course isn't only information from teacher-training manuals.
It's more than two decades of actually sitting in rooms with pregnant women and new mothers.
Thousands of conversations.
Thousands of bodies.
Birth stories, difficult pregnancies, wonderful births, complicated births, Caesarean births, babies who sleep through class and babies who absolutely do not.
I've seen our understanding of pregnancy, birth, the nervous system, pain, movement and postnatal recovery evolve enormously during that time - and my teaching has evolved with it.
My qualifications include:
500hr British Wheel of Yoga Diploma
Birthlight Perinatal Yoga
Active Birth Teacher, trained by Janet Balaskas
Hypnobirth Teacher
Mindfulness & Mindful Parenting Teacher
Advanced Women's Wellness Coach
Trained Doula, trained with Michel Odent
Mindbody Practitioner
Developmental Baby Massage Teacher
And I'm also the mother of two now-grown-up daughters.
WHAT PAST TRAINEES SAY
"I have just completed my Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training with Brigid and can't recommend the course (and Brigid) more highly! It's the perfect top-up to the 200 hour yoga teacher training, and has given me the confidence and knowledge to work with women during these wonderful moments in their lives.
This is also a wonderful course for any woman who wants to understand their pregnancy and postnatal options more deeply, to allow a real sense of self-empowerment.
Brigid is a true leader in this field and I can't wait to get started - thoroughly inspiring!"
- Felcia, 2023 Graduate
AFTER YOUR TRAINING
I don't want you to finish the final training day with a certificate and then wonder:
"Right... what do I do now?"
Every cohort has its own WhatsApp group and you'll receive three months of mentoring support with a monthly zoom call after your training (or message me anytime with questions).
This gives you somewhere to bring the questions that inevitably appear once you begin putting everything you've learned into practice.

FAQ
-
This training is open to qualified yoga teachers. Having that foundation means everyone arrives with an existing understanding of yoga teaching, so we can hit the ground running and spend our time focusing specifically on the skills, knowledge and practical experience you need to teach pregnancy and postnatal yoga.
Some pregnancy yoga teacher trainings are designed to accommodate both qualified teachers and those completely new to teaching yoga. By keeping this training specifically for existing yoga teachers, we don’t need to spend valuable course time revisiting the fundamentals you already know - which gives us much more space to really dive into pregnancy, birth, the postnatal period and how to adapt your teaching for this very particular stage of a woman’s life.
-
Yes. As long as you have the appropriate underlying teaching qualification and have updated your insurance, you can begin teaching group sessions after completing the taught element of the training.
Until your coursework has been successfully completed, your certification will be considered provisional, and you may wish to reflect this in how you describe or price your classes.
-
No.
Your own experience of pregnancy or motherhood is not a prerequisite for becoming an excellent pregnancy or postnatal yoga teacher.
The training will give you the specialist knowledge and practical understanding you need to support the women attending your classes.
-
Every cohort has a private WhatsApp group, and you'll receive three months of mentoring following the training.
This includes access to a monthly group Zoom session with me where you can ask questions, discuss classes and get support as you begin teaching.

READY TO ADD PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL YOGA TO YOUR TEACHING?
This training isn't about memorising a list of poses that pregnant women can and can't do.
It's about developing the knowledge, judgement and confidence to look at the woman in front of you and know how to support her.
Through pregnancy.
As she prepares for birth.
And when she returns to you with her baby.
